Peter Blunden is an Australian journalist, former editor of the Herald Sun newspaper and managing director of publisher Herald & Weekly Times Pty Ltd, which publishes the Herald Sun, Sunday Herald Sun, The Weekly Times and mX[1]. He was appointed to this role in 2001[2] after previously serving as editor-in-chief of the Herald Sun.
The man to whom he reported, John Hartigan described Blunden generously "He's a person who certainly expresses energy in everything he does. [3]
He is a board member of the Alannah and Madeline Foundation.
Blunden came to public attention after a man he sacked, Bruce Guthrie sued him and HWT for breach of contract. Blunden maintained that he fired him because of "'fictitious' circulation figures, the snubbing of a princess and underplaying important news stories." [4] Guthrie won the case and was awarded compensation but was not re-employed by HWT.
